Contract type: 2 Years Fixed Term

Hours: 40 hours per week, any 5 days from 7

🔵 About what the Grounds Person will do

As an Apprentice Grounds Person at Cheltenham Racecourse, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our world-famous track in peak condition. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who loves the outdoors, thrives in a team, and wants to build a career in sports turf management.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Prepare and maintain elite-level racing surfaces to industry standards
  • Monitor turf health, weather data, and soil conditions to keep our track in top shape
  • Manage irrigation, drainage, and turf machinery
  • Adopt eco-friendly, sustainable working practices
  • Work safely and legally, reviewing risks and promoting best practice
  • Supervise projects and mentor team members as you grow
  • Communicate with stakeholders and contribute to exciting turf renovation projects
